Is it really free?
Yes. The full budgeting app — income, expenses, bucket allocation, and Payday Plan — is free with no account required. Your data stays on your device. We plan to offer optional paid features like cloud sync and history tracking in the future, but the core app will always be free.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can use the app immediately as a guest. Your budget is stored in your browser's local storage. You can export your data as a JSON file at any time for backup or to move between devices.
Does it connect to my bank?
No — and that's by design. You define your bank account names (like "Everyday", "Bills", "Savings") without entering any sensitive details. The app calculates transfers between those accounts. You make the transfers yourself in your banking app. This keeps your financial data completely private.
What is bucket budgeting?
Bucket budgeting splits your income into categories — or "buckets" — for different purposes. A common split is 60% for daily expenses, 10% for fun spending (splurge), 10% for medium-term savings (smile), and 20% for long-term goals and debt (fire extinguisher). My Money Buckets calculates your actual split based on your real expenses and shows how it compares to the ideal.
Is my data safe?
Your budget data is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB. It never leaves your device unless you choose to export it. We don't collect personal financial information and there are no bank account numbers or BSBs stored anywhere in the app.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. My Money Buckets is a Progressive Web App (PWA) designed mobile-first. You can add it to your home screen on iOS or Android for an app-like experience. It works offline too.

No. My Money Buckets is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any financial adviser, author, or financial institution. Bucket budgeting is a general concept used by many budgeting approaches.
